SQL/Reports Developer

We are recruiting for a dynamic company with a portfolio of businesses that deliver energy and infrastructure services to residential and commercial customers in Ontario and throughout Canada. We are looking for an experienced SQL/Reports Developer who will support the continual development of an enterprise-wide BI function, including building out the architecture, tools, and processes to report on business performance.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in writing code to deliver high-quality reports in a complex environment. It will also be vital for the candidate to bridge the technical world of data warehousing with the needs of the business by acting as an internal consultant to help answer challenging questions using their data expertise and technical know-how.

WORK EXPERIENCE           
  • Good working knowledge of MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS
  • Expertise in data analysis, reporting/metrics and decision-making support
  • Ability to write and dissect complex SQL Queries
  • Ability to run performance tuning to optimize queries
  • Ability to take a simple business requirement and iterate through the report to meet customer expectations
  • Solid knowledge of industry standard testing practices
  • Unit testing, system, experience running UAT testing
  • Some experience with Cognos, Crystal Reports
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Designing, implementing and refactoring code (ETL Languages: Transactional SQL, etc.).
  • Participating in design discussions focused on scalability, design and implementation best practices.
  • Ensure software, programs and applications are developed and/or configured to meet high availability, integrity and reliability requirements.
  • Be able to design, build and operate the software and infrastructure that keeps our solutions running.
  • Our teams are flexible and fast - you will be asked to provide leadership, mentorship, peer review and quality control on a daily basis
  • Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and OEC Services Inc.’s Policies and Procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS       
  • Bachelors or masters degree in business, engineering, computer science or related fields is required
  • 5+ years of related experience in data analysis, reporting/metrics and decision-making support
