We are recruiting for a System Administrator on a 1 year contract with potential for full time with a leading company in Oakville.  Reporting to the Manager, Network Infrastructure, the Systems Administrator is accountable for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of all systems, hardware and software components related to the following services:
  • Microsoft Windows 2012/2016 Administration (including SSL Certificate Management and OS Security Hardening)
  • Enterprise Active Directory Administration (including Groups and Permissions, GPO, ADFS, NPS, AD Azure, Shell Scripting, Login Scripts)
  • Exchange 2013 and Office 365 Administration, Microsoft HyperV and VMWare ESXi/VCenter Administration and Support
  • Appassure/Rapid Restore Backup Management and Support, OS Performance and Applications Monitoring.
 
We are looking for an energetic Systems Administrator who possesses sound, effective leadership and technical skills.  This individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to be  hands-on and a “jack of all trades” when required.  The incumbent will also participate in technical research and development that will enable our continuing journey towards innovation within the network infrastructure services and technology team.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities Include:
  • Be the main technical point of contact for all tickets related to Citrix XenApp Services, Microsoft Active Directory Services and Microsoft Exchange Services, coordinate, escalate and collaborate with 3rd party support vendors to ensure all related IT service requests and incidents are properly escalated and resolved based on the agreed managed services SLAs.
  • Responsible for daily operational administration of the Enterprise Backup and Restore Services and related Infrastructure components, ensuring all backups are completed based on agreed RTO and RPO objectives.
  • Responsible for the procurement, installation and maintenance of all servers SSL certificates and web servers’ security access, coordinating vulnerability and penetration testing with vendors and implementing recommended corrective actions.
  • Responsible for all internal and external DNS services, ensuring that all enterprise IP objects records are monitored and managed accordingly, resolving discrepancies and applying approved changes.
  • Responsible for installing and managing the WSUS and GFI Patching Servers, ensuring servers and related components are operating within pre-defined operating levels and manage all proactive tuning, upgrades and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain technical documentation for the organization’s server environment including up-to-date records of hardware configurations, software licenses, maintenance agreements, network diagrams and maintenance operations.
  • Provide backup support for the Senior Systems Administrator, helping with urgent/critical service requests and incidents related to VMware Infrastructure, Servers, Storage and Windows OS support and related components to achieve high performance and availability of the various business applications supported.
  • Provide effective technical support and participate in several planned projects (AD Consolidation, Exchange to Office 365 Migration, Azure Cloud Migration, Enterprise SSO Implementation, Phone Cloud Migration, Microsoft Teams/OneDrive File Server Migration).

Qualifications, Experience & Skills
  • BA or BSc  in Computer Science , Computer Studies , information systems, or  areas of computer technology
  • 8-10 years’ experience in supporting IT services to complement our Networks & Servers Infrastructure team
  • Previous experience with computer architecture, operating and database systems, local and wide area network technologies, network operating systems and information security technologies;
  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert)
  • VCP ( VMware Certified Professional)
  • Vendor Technical Support Escalation and Incident Prioritization
  • Microsoft Windows 2016/ 2012/2008 OS Administration and Support (including SSL Certificate Management)
  • Servers OS and Applications Licensing, Installations and Support
  • Enterprise Microsoft Active Directory Administration (including internal and public DNS, DHCP, Certificates, GPOs, Login Scrips, OUs, Users and Groups, Shell Scripting, Radius, Security)
  • Microsoft Exchange 2013/Outlook 2013 and Office 365 Administration
  • VMWare 6 VCenter and ESX Host and Virtual Servers Administration and Support
  • Dell Appasure/Rapid Restore Enterprise Backup Management and Support
  • Servers Hardware and Software Performance and Application Monitoring
  • ITIL Methodology (especially on Incident, Problem and Change Management)
  • Working knowledge of Service Now – Asset Configuration Management
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making with appropriate level of discretion as the situation dictates
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent customer service skills including the ability to resolve conflicts
